2021: #AFA Workshop "We Drive Healthy, Eat, Learn and Act"

Another edition of workshops for high school students concluded on December 10th. This year, the workshops organized by Maspex were held under the slogan "We're fueling healthily, eat, learn and act!" For security reasons, project meetings were held online.

The idea behind the workshops was to show young people what a properly balanced diet should look like. During the workshops, the young people were presented not only with tips on proper nutrition but also with key information about so-called Super Foods and education on developing healthy eating habits. A key focus of the workshops was a discussion on the currently popular zero-waste and less-waste trends. The students not only learned the principles of these ideas but also how to implement them. An equally important area covered during the workshops was "targeted nutrition," or how to choose a diet based on a detailed analysis of a person's characteristics. In addition to group exercises, workshop participants participated in a quiz, with the best winners receiving additional prizes.

The workshops were attended by young people from schools across Poland (451 people in total). Students from:

  • Complex of Energy Schools named after Prof. Kazimierz Drewnowski in Lublin,
  • School Complex No. 1 named after Józef Piłsudski in Limanowa,
  • Secondary School Complex No. 1 named after the 10th Infantry Regiment in Łowicz,
  • Secondary School Complex No. 2, Tadeusz Kościuszko Vocational Training Center in Łowicz,
  • School Complex No. 4 named after Janusz Groszkowski in Tychy,
  • School Complex No. 7 in Tychy,
  • Tadeusz Kościuszko Mechanical and Power Engineering School Complex in Olsztyn,
  • Krzysztof Celestyn Mrongowiusz School Complex in Olsztynek,
  • District School Complex in Lędziny,
  • Center for Vocational and Continuing Education No. 1 named after Rev. Prof. Józef Tischner in Wadowice,
  • School Complex of the Center for Continuing Education named after St. John Paul II in Radocza
  • Multi-professional School Complex in Zator.

All educational activities were conducted by Polskiedzieci.org Foundation , and the mentors of the meetings with young people were, among others, Natalia Bujak, President of the Foundation, and Magdalena Janusz, dietitian. The workshops were also attended by representatives of the HR, PR and Innovation Management departments, i.e. teams regularly involved in educational activities conducted by Maspex.

The meetings were organised during the Maspex Open Days and as part of the EIT Food #AnnualFoodAgenda project, which in Poland, apart from Maspex, is implemented by the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Olsztyn and the Food Bank in Olsztyn.
