The history of Żubrówka dates back to the 15th century. Even then, Polish nobility eagerly added blades of bison grass to the vodka. This was done to enhance the flavor, but not only that. Centuries ago, it was believed that bison grass was an aphrodisiac, imbuing the bison with strength and energy.
