Development of a new field tomato variety dedicated to processing and improved cultivation technology to achieve high-quality, repeatable and efficient production in Polish climatic conditions

The subject of the project was to solve the problem of insufficient domestic production of high-quality field tomatoes for processing, mainly for the production of tomato concentrate.
The main objective of the project was achieved through:
– development of a new field tomato variety adapted to Polish climatic conditions
– optimization of cultivation technology:
- developing a dedicated crop monitoring and management system based on, among others, hyperspectral imaging from drones and advanced image processing algorithms and artificial intelligence;
- development of recommendations for nutrition, irrigation and the use of plant protection products dedicated to soil cultivation using modern technologies (including drip irrigation, fertigation).
The project was implemented by a consortium consisting of ZPOW Agros Nova (leader), Plantico, QZ Solutions, and Agrisolutions.
The project was carried out in cooperation with National Centre for Research and Development under the Smart Growth Operational Programme for 2014-2020, Axis Support for R&D work by enterprises; Sub-measure: Industrial research and development work carried out by enterprises.
