On April 30, 2024, the Maspex Group – owner of brands such as Tymbark, Kubuś, Lubella, Łowicz, Krakus, Kotlin, Włocławek, and leading vodkas like Żubrówka, Soplica, and Absolwent – finalized the transaction of purchasing the company Jan Becher – Karlovarská Becherovka a.s., which owns the Becherovka brand and a production facility along with a warehouse in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. Becherovka is an iconic herbal liqueur and the oldest alcohol brand in the Czech Republic, produced based on a secret recipe passed down from generation to generation.
The acquisition will allow Maspex to expand its portfolio with a unique product, but it also serves as evidence of strengthening its position in the alcoholic beverages market, where the company has been present since 2022. Becherovka, as a strong and esteemed brand, fits perfectly into Maspex Group’s strategy, which is based on providing consumers with the highest quality products.
Wioleta Czaja, General Manager of the Business Unit Czech Republic and Slovakia, states: “Currently, our main priority is integration and maintaining sales, by effectively incorporating Becherovka into our offering. We will undoubtedly continue to invest in the brand – both through product development and marketing activities. We also want to support Becherovka internationally. Therefore, the product will be available in the offerings of our branches, and we also plan its expansion into export markets, allowing an even greater number of consumers to enjoy the unique taste of this brand’s products.”
The transaction will also benefit Maspex’s trading partners in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, who will gain access to a richer offering that includes renowned alcoholic brands such as Becherovka and Żubrówka, as well as non-alcoholic ones including Relax, Tiger, and River Tonic. Expanding the range will enhance their market appeal, simultaneously generating additional benefits from the synergy of these products.
