EIT Food RIS Solutions

The recruitment of students for the EIT Food RIS Solutions programme, whose main organiser is Maspex, ended in July. The effects of the work of four student teams will be known during the Foodhaton organized on 27-28 November in Warsaw.

EIT Food RIS Solutions is a new EIT Food programme aimed at ambitious students who want to be involved in solving the challenges of the food industry. Maspex and EIT Food partners from Poland and abroad have defined challenges for students from areas such as: · Personalisation in the food industry – “Personalisation – better fit food products with consumers and customers expectations and needs”, – · Reducing food waste – “Ideas to reduce food loss and waste during the food production, distribution and sale”, · Health and sustainability – “The challenge of a healthy and sustainable future for the food system”.

In order to take part in the recruitment process for the EIT Food RIS Solutions Programme, students had to form a team, record a short film presenting their solution and fill in the application form on the website: https://www.azti.es/eitfood-risolutions/. The program was open to interdisciplinary teams of students (min. 2 people, max. 4 people), in which at least one person from the team came from the RIS region (list of countries and regions is available here: https://www.azti.es/eitfood-risolutions/process/).

On the basis of the submitted films, 5 teams were selected, which received a 3-month mentoring to support the solution development activities. After the mentoring period, each team prepared a detailed presentation about their solution. Only four selected student teams have been invited to the “Foodhaton Marathon” and will have the opportunity to present the results of their activities live in front of the jury during a pitching session.
