The subject of the project is a comprehensive solution to the problem of insufficient domestic production of high quality ground cucumbers dedicated to the fermentation process. The aim of the project is to breed new varieties of ground cucumber and to develop a comprehensive technology for their cultivation in order to obtain high quality raw material with the desired characteristics for the fermentation process. The result of the project will be a study: · at least 3 new ground cucumber cultivars with different fruiting periods (early, medium and late), high fertility and morphological characteristics desired from the point of view of the fermentation process; · new preparations for biofortification into important microelements: Fe(II), Zn(II), Cu(II), Mn(II): · increasing the crunchiness of cucumbers, · increasing the amount of marketable yield, · improving health and limiting the use of pesticides and insecticides, · increasing yield. · recommendations for nutrition, irrigation and the use of pesticides and insecticides dedicated to ground cultivation with the use of modern technologies (e.g. drip irrigation, fertigation); · model of correlation of raw cucumber characteristics with those of fermented cucumber. The project is implemented in a consortium composed of Fruktus Agros Nova Sp. z o.o. Sp. k. (leader), Intermag Sp. z o.o., Krakowska Hodowla i Nasiennictwo Ogrodnicze Polan Sp. z o.o.. Each of the consortium members is responsible for a selected project area: 1. Fruktus – the fermentation process and a model of correlation of cucumber morphological features 2. Intermag – cucumber growing technology 3. Polan – new varieties of cucumber The project is implemented in cooperation with the National Centre for Research and Development under the Intelligent Development Operational Programme for the years 2014-2020, Support for conducting R&D works by enterprises; Sub-measure: Industrial research and development works carried out by enterprises.
